The pack for these pieces lists a firing temperature of 2340F held for 13.5 hours. That number tells you what the maker did to the clay. It was driven to vitrification so the finished body is dense and comparatively nonporous. That density is the reason the double reactive glaze behaves the way it does. Colour pools at the rim and speckles through the body. The surface therefore changes temperature faster than the interior.

A single movement defeats the firing. Carry a steaming Nebula mug from the microwave and set it straight into a cold, wet sink or onto chilled tile and the sudden change can split glaze or crack the body. The pack temperature does not make that impossible. Let a hot mug sit for a minute or two so the surface and core can move toward the same temperature before hard contact with cold surfaces. A cloth or coaster also slows the change.

Oven and freezer statements are model specific, so look at the pack for the exact mug you have. Also avoid sudden temperature changes. They are the usual cause of cracks regardless of stated ratings.

Why do Nebula mugs sometimes leave a grey ring on plates when stacked?

The foot ring is left unglazed so the piece releases from the kiln shelf. That raw ring grips surfaces and will sometimes leave a faint grey circle on a plate stacked under it. Both facts are the same fact. To avoid marks, put a thin pad, paper napkin, or felt between stacked pieces when you store them.
