How Famiware updates prices and figures

The catalogue was last updated on August 31, 2026. Prices move between updates, and if the figure at checkout differs from the figure here, checkout is right.

What we re-read, and how often

Every price in the Famiware way is re-read on a schedule and rewritten when it moves. A piece that has no live offer at that moment comes off the site at the next build rather than sitting here with a number nobody can act on, and it comes back on its own when it returns.

Sizes, capacities and piece counts change far less often, but they are rebuilt from the same data at the same time, so a page cannot carry last season's diameter next to this week's price.

What the figures mean

A price shown as a single number is the same across every glaze of that piece. A price shown as "from" means the glazes differ, and the page for that piece prints each one against its own colour.

Where a sentence does arithmetic — what one plate out of a set of twelve works out at — both numbers behind it are printed on the same page. The division is there to be checked without leaving the page.

What we do not do

We do not run a laboratory, and we print no test numbers of our own. Care claims on this site repeat what is printed on the pack of the line in question and are attributed as such. The public standards that govern lead and cadmium on a food surface are linked below, and each was opened and read on the date shown before a link was put on it.

Telling us something is wrong

A capacity that argues with the box, a photograph showing the wrong glaze, a price that has been stale for a month: table@myfamiware.com, with the page you found it on. It is fixed on the next update and we say what changed.

Where this comes from

Questions and Answers on Lead-Glazed Traditional Pottery — US Food and Drug Administration. Fired at the proper temperature for the proper length of time, essentially all the lead in a glaze binds into the glaze itself, and any migration into food is insignificant. The ware the FDA warns about is handmade and crude, antique, damaged, bought from a street vendor, or brightly decorated in orange, red or yellow; pottery made in commercial factories for everyday use is much less likely to have a lead problem. No amount of washing or boiling removes lead once it is there. Read August 31, 2026.

Some ceramic foodware leaches lead from its food-contact surfaces, and the metal is extractable by food. This guide is the criteria FDA staff apply when deciding whether to detain an import or recommend legal action, which is how action levels for extractable lead in ceramic tableware are enforced at the border. Cadmium in Food and Foodwares — US Food and Drug Administration. No FDA regulation authorises cadmium as a colour additive or food additive, and that includes its use as a component of foodware, cookware or food-contact surfaces. The agency also publishes a toxicological reference value for dietary cadmium of 0.21 to 0.36 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day, set on bone and kidney effects. Read August 31, 2026.
Lead in Food and Foodwares — US Food and Drug Administration. The FDA’s interim reference levels for dietary lead are 2.2 micrograms a day for children and 8.8 micrograms a day for women of childbearing age. Both are set nearly ten times below the intake that would reach the CDC blood reference level of 3.5 micrograms per decilitre, and both describe a whole day of food rather than any single dish.
