The box holds four mugs, each at 12 oz. They sit heavy in the hand, the stoneware body dense and the double reactive glaze giving a surface that shifts in the light. The handle fits four fingers, and the lip is thin enough to drink from without spilling.

A 12 oz mug takes a standard pour of coffee with room for milk, or a full cup of tea. The stoneware holds the heat without burning the hand, though a hot drink does warm the sides. Four mugs means the whole table drinks together.
