Famiware Jupiter coffee mugs
At one end of the Jupiter mugs are pieces that hold a quick measure, and at the other are cups that keep a long pour warm. The empty space between the narrowest and the widest is useful in simple, predictable ways. It makes room when you stack mismatched pieces, so rims and handles do not lock together. It leaves a thumbhole when you lift a mid-size cup from a column. Small practical gaps like that save time and reduce slips.
The glaze chemistry shows itself where the cup meets the air. Colour pools at the rim and speckles through the body so no two pieces match exactly. That makes rubbing rims together an obvious risk. The gap between largest and smallest keeps rims apart and protects the pooled color. The unglazed foot ring stays bare, which helps a cup grip the table but will also leave a faint ring on a plate under it. Consider that when you stack.
Care and glaze claims on this page repeat what is printed on the pack. The public standards behind them are named on our updates page.

04About Jupiter
Famiware Jupiter coffee mugs: two questions
Asked about Jupiter mugs in particular rather than about the range as a whole.
Are Famiware Jupiter mugs dishwasher safe?
Most Jupiter mugs are sold with packs that state dishwasher and microwave safe. The stoneware is fired to a vitrified body and the double reactive glaze is lead-free and cadmium-free. Oven and freezer suitability is decided model by model and shown on the pack, so if you need either function look for that specific note before assuming it applies.
Will the unglazed foot of a Jupiter mug mark plates or countertops?
The foot ring is left unglazed. That bare clay helps a mug sit without sliding but it will leave a faint ring on the plate or surface beneath it. If you want to avoid marks, place a thin cloth, a paper napkin, or a felt coaster between stacked pieces. The mark is cosmetic and will not affect the mug's structure.
