Jupiter Large Coffee Mug, 2-piece: the description
The weight of this mug, solid and substantial in the hand, is a direct consequence of the stoneware it is made from. Fired until the clay body vitrifies, it becomes dense and non-absorbent. That density gives it a definite heft, but it also means the mug holds heat longer than a thinner ceramic.
This mug asks you to slow down. When full, it is heavy enough to require two hands, especially if you are used to lighter mugs. The dense stoneware retains heat, so the outside can become warm to the touch. It is not a mug you grab and go; it is one you set down and hold.
