The stoneware carries a weight that feels substantial in the hand. It is dense and unglazed on the foot ring, so it does not slip on the table. The glaze is dishwasher safe, the pack says, and the bowl rinses clean easily. Stoneware is hard and brittle; the rim can chip if knocked, but the bowl holds up to daily use.
