Venus Coffee Mugs Set of 4: the description
Between meals the four live on the kitchen rack beside the coffee things, handles turned out, the speckled glaze catching the morning light. In use they come down one at a time and fill the hand the way heavy stoneware does, no measuring, no fiddling, a mug you already know. Set down on a wooden table they sit still and ring low.
On the shelf they stack two high, and that is the full height of the arrangement. Turn the handles so they clear each other and the two mugs settle into one small shape. Four mugs take a handspan of shelf, and the next morning you reach for them in the same order you always do.
