A photograph cannot tell you how a stoneware plate weighs in your hand. The Ocean set holds 18 pieces for six places, all finished in a double reactive glaze. Lift one out of the stack and you feel the density. Set it down on a wooden table and you hear a low, clear note.

What this set asks of you is care in the kitchen. Stoneware chips at the rim when it meets something harder, and the foot ring leaves a mark on a plate stacked beneath it. Stack two high and the pieces sit comfortably. Pile a third and you test the edge.
