Famiware Ocean Square Plates

The pack says these square plates are safe in the microwave and the dishwasher. Oven use is not listed. Stoneware holds heat, so a plate warmed in the microwave keeps food warm at the table. The square shape gives you a little more surface area than a round plate of the same width. Three plates serve four, enough for a main course each.

The three plates come together, sized for four at the table. Square dinner plates sit cleanly and stack two high on a shelf. They are heavy in the hand, dense stoneware that does not absorb. The rim is the most vulnerable spot; a hard knock can chip it, and the chip shows pale clay. That is the nature of vitrified stoneware.
