Ocean Square Stoneware Dinnerware Set for 8: the description

The first thing you notice picking up a plate from this set is the weight. Each piece is dense stoneware, fired hard and heavy in the hand. The foot ring is left unglazed, rough to the touch, and it grips the tablecloth or the plate beneath it.

Stack the plates two high at most. The unglazed foot of the one above leaves a pale rub on the glazed surface below, just the body clay showing through. That mark is part of how stoneware works. Dishwasher and microwave safe, the pack says, and the set fits into daily use.
