The Ocean glaze settles deepest in the well of each plate and bowl, where the color turns almost liquid, then thins toward the rim until the raw clay shows through as a pale ring. The square shape catches the light differently at each corner, so the surface shifts as you set the table. No two pieces will match exactly; the glaze decides that in the kiln.

This stoneware is dense and heavy, which means it holds heat well but also that a dropped plate will likely chip at the rim, revealing the light clay underneath. The foot ring is left bare to release from the kiln, so it will mark the plate below it if you stack more than two. That is the honest limit: stack two high, or store them separated.
