A photograph cannot tell you the weight of a dinner plate before you lift it. This stoneware is fired until the body is dense, so each piece sits solid in the hand and comes down on the table with a muffled, low sound rather than a ring. You notice the difference the first night you set it out.
The plates stack in pairs, and the stack ends at two. A third plate leaves a faint ring on the one below, so two is the height to keep. The bowls nest inside one another, and the stack of them stands about as tall as a single bowl.
