A stoneware platter is heavier than it looks. This set gives you three rectangular ones that nest inside each other, taking up less cupboard space than a single large board. Together they serve four, with one for the main dish and two for sides or bread.

The glaze seals the body so oils and sauces wipe off without soaking in. You can warm food on a platter in the microwave, set it on the table, and later put it in the dishwasher. Stoneware is hard but brittle; a knock at the rim leaves a pale chip. That is the honest trade-off for a surface that does not absorb stains.
